Abstract The overwhelming development of mankind has required to research about new ways of acquiring knowledge and new teaching methods. In this context, the term “serious games” is more often used. In an informal way, it refers to the use of games for transmitting human values, developing knowledge or attitudes or simply obtaining another result apart from just entertainment. These complex and interactive games become an important environment for learning, entertaining and developing those special outstanding skills for the working world. Our country is well aware of this, therefore an application, SM Prog, with the characteristics of these serious games has been developed at the University of Informatic Sciences. The application includes a module for didactic games with a board called JDProg. This paper deals with the implementation of the multiplayer mode to the JDProg of the educational tool SMProg. This allows two or more players to interact in the same match. RUP methodology is used to lead the development process. The architecture is chosen so that it is compatible with the SMProg educational tool. By means of the testing process the non-conformances were detected and corrected resulting in a useful tool to support the teaching -learning process.
