Resumen : The work presents the results obtained in the study carried out on a sample from the Universidad Central “Marta Abreu” de Las Villas regarding English language virtual. The paper is aimed at describing the experience in the use of English language virtual teaching in the Basic course (equivalent to level A1 according to the CEFR) taught to first–year students of Psychology, Journalism and Telecommunication Engineering degree courses, through the Moodle platform. For the study a mixed research paradigm with quantitative and qualitative methods was used to find out their perceptions about this virtual modality in the English language teaching, its challenges and perspectives. As a result, the design of the course was presented in a virtual learning environment, the assembly of learning resources in digital format and the use of a work methodology for virtual teaching, which constituted a practical contribution as well as the perceptions of the participants from the course, a novel experience in the teaching context.
