Systematic mapping on the adoption of metrics and indicators in software development projects

Abstract

For the success of a software project, it is essential to have a system that has metrics and indicators that help to plan, control and make good decisions in Project Management. This article presents a systematic mapping of the literature of the last five years that allows to know the current state of the adoption of metrics and indicators in software development projects. As a result, 15 studies were found, which were analyzed and compared taking into account the indicators and metrics: by models, standards and methodologies, by type of developed, according to the phases of software development and according to the tools to support indicators and metrics. Finally, it was observed that there is a trend towards the application of these indicators and metrics given how practical it is to evaluate and to improve Project Management.
