Impacto de las asignaturas de arrastre en los resultados docentes de asignaturas de programación.

Abstract

Con el presente artículo se pretende valorar el impacto que tiene en los resultados docentes en las asignaturas Programación II y Programación III de los estudiantes de segundo año de la Universidad de las Ciencias Informáticas, tener matriculadas como arrastre las asignaturas Introducción a la Programación y/o Programación I del primer año. Para ello se realizó un análisis estadístico descriptivo de los resultados docentes de los estudiantes en convocatorias de prueba final, extraordinario y extraordinario especial. Se definieron cinco grupos, los estudiantes que llevaron la primera asignatura como arrastre, los que llevaron la segunda, los que llevaron las dos, los que llevaron al menos una y los que no llevaron ninguna. A partir de los datos obtenidos se elaboraron tablas y gráficos que permitieron comparar los resultados, evidenciándose que la probabilidad de aprobar las asignaturas Programación II y Programación III disminuye considerablemente si no se han aprobado una o las dos asignaturas de la disciplina que le preceden, llegando a ser tres veces menos probable cuando se tienen las dos suspensas. Los resultados obtenidos muestran que uno de los factores que incide considerablemente en el rendimiento académico de los estudiantes lo constituye el cumplimiento de objetivos de las asignaturas con relación de precedencia, los cuales garantizan los conocimientos y habilidades necesarias para continuar su desarrollo.

This article aims to assess the impact of the carry-over subjects Introduction to Programming and/or Programming I of the first year, on the teaching results in the subjects Programming II and Programming III of second-year students of the University of Computer Science. For this, it was carried out a descriptive statistical analysis of the educational results of the students in final, extraordinary and special extraordinary exam calls. It was defined five groups, those with the first carry-over subject, those with the second one, those with both, those with one at least and those without any. From the data obtained, they were prepared tables and graphs that allowed to compere the results, showing that the probability of passing the subjects Programming II and Programming III decreases considerably if one or both subjects of the preceding discipline have not been passed, reaching to be three times less likely when you have both failures. The results obtained show that one of the factors that considerably affects the academic performance of the students is the fulfillment of the objectives of the subjects with a precedence relationship, which guarantee the knowledge and skills necessary to continue their development.
